Business Education The Teacher Release to Industry Programme (TRIP NZ) places selected teachers in industry settings full-time for 10 weeks. Teachers placed in industry remain employees of the Ministry of Education during the placement.
The purpose of placing teachers into industry is to develop stronger links between industry and education, and to ensure mutual understanding between the two sectors. Teachers must return to their school after their industry placements. This enables them to use their new skills, knowledge and networks within the school system. Teachers play a vital role in influencing students’ aspirations and career choices. By giving teachers the opportunity to spend time in industry it is hoped they’ll inspire their students to think of careers as entrepreneurs and businesspeople. A pilot is being trialed this year in Counties Manukau in intermediate and secondary schools. This programme is a collaborative effort between Enterprising Manukau, Papakura District Council and Enterprise Franklin.
