Business Events PROPERTY INVESTMENT FORUM
The annual Manukau Property Forum provides an in-depth analysis of commercial property opportunities arising out of Manukau City's future growth.
Speakers for the 2008 Manukau Property Investment Forum held on 9 June were: - Manukau City Councillor, Arthur Anae gave a general update on council's land related activities in the past 12 months.
- Rick Walden, Manukau City Council's Director of Economic gave an update on council activities, including moves with rail and road; the shortage of greenfields land in Manukau for industrial and commercial use and the effect this has on economic development and the advancement of the city; Council's application for the re-zoning of land as industrial and an extension to the Metropolitan Urban Limits and the outcome of these submissions. - Jon Maplesden of Land Solutions addressed the shortage of land in the region; does the MUL need to be changed and, if so, what areas should be re-zoned for development; has the MUL induced a shortage of land that has driven up land prices; and over-leveraged developers now prepared to sell greenfields land rather than lease.
