One of New Zealand's largest covered shopping centres is close by and quality residential housing is available. East Tamaki (Flat Bush)
An exciting new town planning concept is being developed for East Tamaki to accommodate 50,000 people by the year 2012. The new town centre envisaged will be a vibrant place that contains a range of activities - retail, office, community, health, education and residential activities - within lively yet compact streetscapes to allow easy pedestrian access throughout the area. High and medium density housing will surround the centre to maximise the number of residents within walking distance. There are three neighbourhood centres proposed, with a range of residential housing types. The design will also encourage mixed use corridors along major routes to provide opportunities for residential, employment, local convenience shopping, and activities such as medical centres, as well as supporting public transport options. Highbrook Business Park Development
An impressive new business park, to be called Highbrook Business Park, is taking shape at East Tamaki on the Waiouru Peninsula. Designed by world-leading landscape architect, Peter Walker, this project will be the largest of its kind in Australasia. The development will be joined by a new, direct link and interchange to the main north/south motorway. Highbrook is expected to generate between 9,000 and 15,000 new jobs in the area during the next 15 years, making East Tamaki one of the largest non-central business district employment areas in New Zealand. It is designed to attract international and major New Zealand corporations - some already consolidated in the area. Botany Town Centre
Te Irirangi Drive is the NZ$45 million arterial road linking Botany Town Centre to Manukau City Centre. Apart from its prime function of facilitating the efficient movement of people and goods, it provides access to many new clusters of higher density housing. Retail and recreational developments are accompanying this urban growth. The NZ$300 million Botany Town Centre provides retail and entertainment facilities including restaurants, cafes and cinemas, with parking for 2,500 cars. Mangere Ascot lies within minutes of the airport. Major airline, freight forwarders and custom agencies, rental car companies, banks, exporters and importers are located in this area. There are also several major international hotels and numerous motel complexes. Auckland International Airport, Mangere Auckland International Airport Ltd (AIAL) offers a diverse range of investment opportunities including retail, commercial and office accommodation. AIAL design and build new, modern premises to suit business needs and reserve land for future expansion. Auckland International Airport is centrally located - 19 km south of the Auckland CBD and ten minutes drive to Manukau City Centre. Arterial routes enable access to the north, south and east. More than 10,000 people are employed at the airport creating a 'mini city'. There are more than 200 businesses with tenants from all sectors of the wider market including administration offices, retail shopping, destination food outlets, freight forwarders, logistic providers, distribution and warehousing. A range of staff amenities are available at the airport. A medical centre, childcare facilities, walking tracks, golf course, country club, gym, and airport shopping centre, together with all the services offered within both the domestic and international terminals create a pleasant working environment.
